Urad dhal Rice – உளுந்தம் பருப்பு சாதம்


Ingredients

  • Black split Urad dal – 200g
  • Rice – 200g
  • Fenugreek seeds – 1 tsp
  • Garlic cloves – 6
  • Coconut – 1
  • Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin seed – 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves – Few
  • Saseme oil – Required
  • salt – Required

How to Prepare

Total Preparation time: 50-60 minutes

  1. Fry the urad dhal and rice and wash twice and keep aside
  2. Grate coconut and chop garlic
  3. Place a pressure cooker over stove, add 1 litre water
  4. Once water boiled, add rice, dal, fenugreek seed and garlic
  5. Once it starts bubbling, add required amount salt and mix it well
  6. Cook it for 5 minutes and mix it well then close the lid tightly
  7. Cook for 2 whistles in low flame
  8. After pressure goes off completely, open the lid and stir rice gently
  9. Take a pan, add 1 tbspn sesame oil after oil heats up add cumin seeds followed by asafoetida, curry leaves
  10. Fry it for 10 seconds then add 200g grated coconut and saute for 20 seconds
  11. Add this seasoning to the rice dal mixture and mix it well
  12. Now the Healthy urad dal rice is ready to serve.
  13. (Note) Hot serving is more delicious and healthy
  14. (Note) Serve with Coconut thovaiyal or Sesame thovaiyal will give the perfect balancing taste
