Tomato Chutney – தக்காளி சட்னி
Ingredients
- Tomatoes – 3
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Fenugreek seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Red Chillies – 4
- Garlic clove – 2
- Small onions – 2
- Peppercorns – 3
- Ginger – 1/8
- Mustard seeds – 3/4 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida – A pinch
- Curry leaves – Required
- Oil – Required
- Salt – Required
How to Prepare
Total Preparation Time: 10-20 minutes
- Chop tomatoes, chop onions, grate ginger, chop the garlic and keep aside
- Take a pan, add some oil once oil heats up, add cumin seeds
- Once splutter, add urad dal, fenugreek then add 3 red chillies, peppercorns, curry leaves
- Once the dal become golden, add garlic, ginger, asafoetida
- Then add onion and saute for 2 minutes till it become golden brown
- After that add tomatoes, salt and saute it till become mushy
- Turn off the flame and make the oil fried ingredients cool down
- After cool down completely, add them to a blender
- Grind them well for 1 minutes in high speed
- Blend them like a paste and add another 100ml water
- Blend them for a minute till it reach the think water consistency, then transferred into a bowl and keep aside
- Now a pan, heat 2 tsp oil after that add mustard seeds
- Once mustard crackle, add 1/2 tsp urad dal, red chillies
- Fry it for 1 minutes, then add this tempering into the prepared tomato chutney
- Now the colourful Tomato Chutney is ready for serve
