Potato Rice – உருளைக்கிழங்கு சாதம்
Ingredients
- Potatoes – 2
- Rice – 250g
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Red Onion – 2
- Tomatoes – 2
- Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
- Fresh Curd – 50 ml
- Gren Chillies – 6
- Ginger – 1/2
- Garlic cloves – 6
- Fennel Seeds – 1 tbsp
- Cinnamon – 2
- Cloves – 2
- Lemon – 1/2
- Curry leaves – Few
- Coriander leaves – Few
- Oil – Required
- Salt – Required
How to Prepare
Total Preparation time: 30-35 minutes
- Wash rice cleanly then soak it in 380ml water for 30 minutes, add salt and keep aside
- Peel the skin, cut it into small pieces and take lemon juice from lemon, slice onion lengthwise, chop the tomatoes, slice the green chillies, chop coriander leaves and keep aside
- Grind cinnamon, cloves, fenel seeds, ginger, garlic like paste and keep the grounded paste aside
- Take a rice bowl/pressure cooker, add 1 tsp oil once oil heats up, add cumin seeds
- Once it crackle, add onions and saute till it become golden
- Then add turmeric powder and fry for 2 seconds
- After that add the grounded paste and cook it till the raw smell goes off
- Add potatoes and cook it for 2 minutes then add soaked rice
- Mix well then add 500ml water, fresh curd, lemon juice
- Stir it well then close the lid and cook for 15 minutes in low flame to avoid rice blackening
- Fluff the rice and garnish with coriander leaves for nice look
- Now the tasty potato rice is ready for serve
