Potato Poriyal
Ingredients
- Potatoes – 5
- Urad dal – 1 tsp
- Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- Small onions – 3
- Red chilli powder – 1 tbspn
- Garam masala – A pinch
- Asafoetida – A pinch
- Curry leaves – Few
- Coriander leaves – Few
- Oil – Required
- Salt – Required
How to Prepare
Total Preparation time 25-30 minutes
- Wash the raw potato and peel the skin then cut into small pieces, chop onions and keep aside
- Heat the pan with oil, then add mustard seeds
- Once it crackles, add urad dal, cumin seeds, asafoetida and fry for 30 seconds
- Then add chopped onions and curry leaves and saute it well
- After that add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and fry it till raw smell goes off
- Then add potatoes and required salt and mix it well
- Add 50ml water, mix well, close the lid and cook them for 5 minutes till potatoes get softer
- Open the lid, add 1 tsp oil and garam masala
- Fry well for 5 minutes in low flame then turn off the flame
- Finally garnish with coriander leaves over the poriyal
- Now the Potato Poriyal is ready to serve.
