Vendaikai Poriyal
Ingredients
- Okra/Lady finger – 7
- Urad dal – 1 tsp
- Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder – A pinch
- Red onion – 1
- Green chillies – 2
- Asafoetida – A pinch
- Garam masala – A pinch
- Coconut – 1/8
- Lemon – 1
- Curry leaves – Few
- Coriander leaves – Few
- Gingelly oil – Required
- Salt – Required
How to Prepare
Total Preparation time 25-30 minutes
- Wash Okra and slice into smaller piece and keep aside
- Chop onion, chop coriander leaves, grate coconut, extract juice from lemon and keep aside
- Heat the pan with oil, then add mustard seeds, cumin seeds
- Once it crackles, add urad dals and saute till dal become golden
- Then add onion, curry leaves and saute it well till onion become golden
- After that add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, asafoetida and fry it till raw smell goes off
- Then add okra, coriander leaves and required salt and mix it well
- Add lemon juice, mix well and cook them for 10 minutes in low flame till okra become small
- Then sprinkle grated coconut and garam masala and saute it for 5 minutes
- Finally turn off the flame and transferred into a bowl
- Now the healthy vendakkai Poriyal is ready to serve
