Idli Upma
Ingredients
- Left over Idlis – 5
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Chana dal – 1 tbsp
- Sesame seeds – 1 tbsp
- Small onions – 10
- Tomatoes – 2
- Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- Ginger – 1/2
- Garlic cloves – 5 to 6
- Green chillies – 2
- Carrot – 1
- French Beans – 6
- Curd – 1 tsp
- Asafoetida – A pinch
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Red chillies – 4
- Peppercorns – 3
- Coconut – 1/4
- Flex seeds – 2 tsp
- Coriander leaves – Few
- Curry leaves – Few
- Ghee – Required
- Salt – Required
- Oil – Required
How to Prepare
Total Preparation Time: 20-30 minutes
- Cut the idlis and blend them well and keep aside
- Chop onions, tomatoes, grate ginger, slit green chillies, grate coconut, chop garlic, chop carrots, chop french beans, chop coriander leaves and keep them aside separately
- Take a pan and heat 1 tsp oil then add cumin seeds once it crackle add urad dal, chana dal, red chillies
- Once dals become golden, add ginger and garlic and fry for 1 minute
- Add flex seeds, sesame seeds, peppercorns, fry it for 1 minute
- Then add coconut and fry till coconut become brown, grind them like powder and keep aside
- Heat the pan with 2 tsp oil and add mustard seeds then add 1 tsp urad dal
- Once dals become golden, add onion and green chillies, curry leaves and fry them till become golden brown
- Then add tomatoes and salt and saute them till it become mushy
- After that add asafoetida, prepared spice powder, turmeric powder and saute them for 1 minute till the raw smell goes off
- Then add carrots, french beans, curd and cook them for 3 minutes
- Open the lid, add the blended idlis and mix it well and stir for 5 minutes
- Turn off the flame and finally sprinkle coriander leaves
- Now the delicious Idli Upma is ready for serve
