Gooseberry Rice – நெல்லிக்காய் சாதம்
Ingredients
- Gooseberry – 3
- Rice – 120g
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Urad dal – 1 tsp
- Red Chilli – 2
- Peanuts – 2 tsp
- Asafoetida – A pinch
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Cashew nuts – 6 to 10
- Peanuts – 6 to 10
- Raisins – 6 to 10
- Curry leaves – Few
- Coriander leaves – Few
- Oil – Required
- Salt – Required
How to Prepare
Total Preparation time: 10-15 minutes
- Wash rice cleanly then soak it in 380ml water for 30 minutes, add salt and cook it then transfer into a bowl and keep aside
- Grate gooseberry nicely and keep aside
- Take a pan add 1 tsp oil once oil heats up, add mustard seeds
- Once it crackle, add urad dal, red chillies, curry leaves, raisins, asafoetida and saute them till the dal change its color
- Now add grated gooseberries, turmeric powder and some salt
- Stir fry for 5 minutes on medium flame
- Add cooked rice into the pan, and mix it for 3 minutes in low flame
- Turn off the flame and fry cashew nuts, peanuts in ghee and sprinkle them over rice
- Finally garnish with coriander leaves for nice look
- Now the healthy Gooseberry rice is ready for serve
