Dal Rice – பருப்பு சாதம்
Ingredients
- Rice – 250g
- Toor Dal – 65g
- Small onions – 8
- Tomato – 1
- Garlic cloves – 6
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- Red chilly powder – 1/4 tsp
- green chilly – 1
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Fenugreek seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Asafoetida – A pinch
- Oil – Required
- Ghee – Required
- Salt – Required
How to Prepare
Total Preparation time: 25-30 minutes
- Wash rice and toor dal cleanly then soak it together in 500 ml water for 30 minutes
- Chop the onion, chop the tomato then cut the green chilly and chop the coriander leaves
- Take a pressure cooker, add 2 tbsp oil and 1 tbsp ghee then heats up
- After oil heats up, add mustard seeds followed by cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and asafoetida
- Fry it, after mustard crackle add onions and green chillies
- Saute it, once onion become golden brown add tomato
- Saute it for few minutes till tomato become mushy
- After that add turmeric powder, red chilly powder and salt and mix it for 3 minutes
- Add rice and dal with soaked water then let it to bubble
- Tightly close the pressure cooker with lid and cook for three to four whistles
- Once all the steams goes off, open the cooker and check the dal rice with spoon slowly
- Finally garnish the rice with coriander leaf
- Now the Dal rice is ready for serve
