Coriander Rice – கொத்தமல்லி சாதம்
Ingredients
- Coriander leaves – 150g
- Rice – 250g
- Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
- Chana dal – 1 tsp
- Urad dal – 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Sesame seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Green chillies – 4
- Small Onion – 3
- Turmeric powder – A pinch
- Ginger – 1/6
- Garlic cloves – 1
- Curry leaves – Few
- Oil – Required
- Salt – Required
How to Prepare
Total Preparation time: 30-35 minutes
- Wash rice cleanly then soak it in 380ml water for 30 minutes, add salt, cook it then transfer it into a bowl and keep aside
- Slice onion lengthwise, chop ginger, garlic finely, chop coriander leaves, chop green chillies and keep aside
- Heat a pan, add oil after oil heated up, add chana dal followed by urad dal
- Once dals become golden, add coriander seeds, sesame seeds and fry for 2 minutes
- Then green chillies, required salt and fry for 1 minute
- Then add ginger, garlic, turmeric powder and fry for 1 minutes
- Add coriander leaves and curry leaves and fry them for 3 minutes
- Take a blender and add fried ingredients and 50ml water and grind them like a paste and keep aside
- Take a pan, add 1 tsp oil once oil heats up, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds
- Once it crackle, add onion and saute till onion become golden then add coriander paste and saute them for 2 minutes
- Then add cooked rice and stir it well in low flame for 3 minutes
- Finally turn off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves for nice look
- Now the greenish Coriander rice is ready for serve
