Chilli Parotta – சில்லி பரோட்டா
Ingredients
- Parotta – 4
- Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Ginger – 1/2
- Cloves – 2
- Green chillies – 5
- Curry leaves – Few
- Garam masala – 1 tsp
- Coriander seed powder – 1 tsp
- Cumin seed powder – 1 tsp
- Tomato sauce – 2 tsp
- Chilli sauce – 1 tbsp
- Red onion – 1
- Capsicum – 1/2
- Oil – Required
- Salt – Required
How to Prepare
Total Preparation time: 10-15 minutes
- Cut the parottas into medium sized pieces
- Slice the onion lengthwise and cut the green chillies
- Chop ginger and garlic into fine pieces otherwise you can take ginger garlic paste
- Take a hard-bottomed pan, add 3 tbsp oil.
- Once oil heated up, add mustard seeds then add ginger followed by garlic
- Saute it till the green smell goes off
- Add onion, green chillies, curry leaves, capsicum and fry it well for 1 minute
- Add garam masala, coriander seed powder, cumin seed powder then mix it well for 2 minutes
- Add tomato sauce and chilli sauce and saute it for 2 minutes
- Then add parotta, mix it and fry well till the parota become reddish brown
- Now the crunchy chilli parotta is ready to serve

History Origin
Chilli parotta is famous food in South India. And according to food reviewers discussion, it was originated in Madurai at a restaurant named Arya bhavan. It was the chef immediate dish when he had lots of leftover parottas.
