Capsicum Rice – குடைமிளகாய் சாதம்
Ingredients
- Capsicum green, yellow, red – 250g
- Rice – 250g
- Chana dal – 1 tsp
- Urad dal – 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Sesame seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
- Dry red chillies – 4
- Red Onion – 1
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- garam masala – 1/2 tsp
- Ginger – 1/4
- Garlic cloves – 2
- Lemon – 1/4
- Curry leaves – Few
- Coriander leaves – Few
- Oil – Required
- Salt – Required
How to Prepare
Total Preparation time: 30-35 minutes
- Wash rice cleanly then soak it in 380ml water for 30 minutes, add salt, cook it then transfer it into a bowl and keep aside
- Remove the seeds and slice capsicums into small pieces lengthwise pieces and slice onion lengthwise, take juice from lemon, chop ginger, garlic finely, chop coriander leaves and keep aside
- Heat a pan, fry chana dal, urad dal, coriander seeds, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, red chillies till it smell aromatic
- Grind the fried ingredients finely, then add garlic and ginger again grind them smoothly and save it in a bowl and keep aside
- Take a pan, add 1 tsp oil once oil heats up, add mustard seeds
- Once it crackle, add onions and curry leaves and saute till onion become golden
- Then add capsicum followed by turmeric powder, garam masala and grounded masala powder and fry till the raw smell goes off
- Sprinkle some salt and lemon juice and mix for 10 seconds
- Then add cooked rice and stir it well in low flame for 3 minutes
- Finally turn off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves for nice look
- Now the colorful Capsicum rice is ready for serve
