Capsicum Rice – குடைமிளகாய் சாதம்


Ingredients

  • Capsicum green, yellow, red – 250g
  • Rice – 250g
  • Chana dal – 1 tsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Sesame seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  • Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
  • Dry red chillies – 4
  • Red Onion – 1
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • garam masala – 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger – 1/4
  • Garlic cloves – 2
  • Lemon – 1/4
  • Curry leaves – Few
  • Coriander leaves – Few
  • Oil – Required
  • Salt – Required

How to Prepare

Total Preparation time: 30-35 minutes

  1. Wash rice cleanly then soak it in 380ml water for 30 minutes, add salt, cook it then transfer it into a bowl and keep aside
  2. Remove the seeds and slice capsicums into small pieces lengthwise pieces and slice onion lengthwise, take juice from lemon, chop ginger, garlic finely, chop coriander leaves and keep aside
  3. Heat a pan, fry chana dal, urad dal, coriander seeds, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, red chillies till it smell aromatic
  4. Grind the fried ingredients finely, then add garlic and ginger again grind them smoothly and save it in a bowl and keep aside
  5. Take a pan, add 1 tsp oil once oil heats up, add mustard seeds
  6. Once it crackle, add onions and curry leaves and saute till onion become golden
  7. Then add capsicum followed by turmeric powder, garam masala and grounded masala powder and fry till the raw smell goes off
  8. Sprinkle some salt and lemon juice and mix for 10 seconds
  9. Then add cooked rice and stir it well in low flame for 3 minutes
  10. Finally turn off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves for nice look
  11. Now the colorful Capsicum rice is ready for serve
