Pavakai Poriyal
Ingredients
- Baby bitterguards – 300g
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Chana dal – 1 tbsp
- Peppercorns – 1 tsp
- Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder – A pinch
- Red onion – 1
- Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
- Lemon – 1
- Curry leaves – Few
- Oil – Required
- Salt – Required
How to Prepare
Total Preparation time 25-30 minutes
- Remove the seeds, chop bitter guard and add water, salt and soak it in water for 10 minutes then drained it and keep aside
- Chop onion, extract juice from lemon, chop garlic and keep aside
- Take a blender and add 50ml water, chana dal, peppercorns and grind them like a paste
- Heat the pan with oil, then add mustard seeds, cumin seeds
- Once it crackles, add onion, curry leaves and saute it well till onion become golden
- After that add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and fry it till raw smell goes off
- Then add bitter guard and required salt and mix it well
- Add 100ml water and lemon juice, cook them for 10 minutes till bitter guard become soft
- If not cooked after 5 minutes, add some water and cook it again
- Then sprinkle grated coconut and saute it for 5 minutes
- Finally turn off the flame and transferred it to a bowl
- Now the healthy Pavakkai Poriyal is ready to serve.
