Onion Rice – வெங்காய சாதம்


Ingredients

  • Red Onion – 1
  • Rice – 250g
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Garlic cloves – 2
  • Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Lime – 1
  • Coriander leaves – Few
  • Pepper powder – Required
  • Oil – Required
  • Salt – Required

How to Prepare

Total Preparation time: 10-15 minutes

  1. Wash rice cleanly then soak it in 380ml water for 30 minutes, add salt and cook it then transfer into a bowl and keep aside
  2. Finely slice the red onion in lengthwise, chop green chillies, chop garlic, chop coriander leaves separately and keep aside
  3. Take the juice from lime, filter it and keep aside
  4. Take a pan add 1 tsp oil once oil heats up, add mustard seeds and green chillies.
  5. Once it splutter, add garlic and fry them for 2 minutes till it become golden
  6. Then add sliced onion and saute it for 5 minutes till the onions become golden brown
  7. Then add salt and pepper and saute it for a minute
  8. After that add cooked rice and mix it well for 2 minutes
  9. Turn off the flame and add 2 tsp lime juice and mix well with rice
  10. Finally sprinkle coriander leaves
  11. Now the quick Onion rice is ready for serve
