Onion Rice – வெங்காய சாதம்
Ingredients
- Red Onion – 1
- Rice – 250g
- Green Chilli – 2
- Garlic cloves – 2
- Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Lime – 1
- Coriander leaves – Few
- Pepper powder – Required
- Oil – Required
- Salt – Required
How to Prepare
Total Preparation time: 10-15 minutes
- Wash rice cleanly then soak it in 380ml water for 30 minutes, add salt and cook it then transfer into a bowl and keep aside
- Finely slice the red onion in lengthwise, chop green chillies, chop garlic, chop coriander leaves separately and keep aside
- Take the juice from lime, filter it and keep aside
- Take a pan add 1 tsp oil once oil heats up, add mustard seeds and green chillies.
- Once it splutter, add garlic and fry them for 2 minutes till it become golden
- Then add sliced onion and saute it for 5 minutes till the onions become golden brown
- Then add salt and pepper and saute it for a minute
- After that add cooked rice and mix it well for 2 minutes
- Turn off the flame and add 2 tsp lime juice and mix well with rice
- Finally sprinkle coriander leaves
- Now the quick Onion rice is ready for serve
